HM Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee
Monday 6th February 2012 saw the worldwide publication of John's photograph commissioned by Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Queen's accession to the throne.
National Autistic Society lecture, Febuary 2012
John is giving a talk at the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution in North London on Thursday 23rd February supporting the NAS Transforming Lives Project.

John Swannell & Sir Roy Strong
On 27 October 2011 at 7pm, in the Ondaatje Wing Theatre at The National Portrait Gallery, John will be in conversation with Sir Roy Strong, discussing the process of photographic portraiture, the relationship between artist and sitter and more.

National Autistic Society lecture

National Portrait Gallery
John has been given a dedicated space at the gallery to exhibit a selection of his portraits. The pictures are on show from 22nd April until 31st December 2011 in Room 38a
HRH The Princess Royal
John photographed Princess Anne for her official portrait celebrating her 60th birthday, having previously been commissioned for her 40th and 50th birthdays.
Tony Blair
Having already photographed Cherie and Tony Blair and their family in the last few years, John was commissioned for both the covers of Cherie's book "Speaking For Myself: The Autobiography" and of Tony Blair's autobiography "A Journey" released this year.
Lectures and presentations
John has been giving lectures over the last few years throughout Britain at various art centres and universities, the most prestigious being at The Royal Geographic Society in Kensington in 2008 which was in aid of the Photovoice charity. He is scheduled to appear there again in June 2011. He has been invited to lecture and exhibit at a prestigious international photographic festival at Kristiansund in Norway in 2012.
In October 2010 John presented his first hands-on workshop with Irish Eyes, Liam Ramsell's innovative photographic training courses.
New Swannell nudes
In February 2011 Clarendon Fine Art in Mayfair hosted a new collection of extraordinary nudes that John has been working on over the last two years.

Highgate Cemetery
Work is just finished on the next book to be published.
The subject is Highgate Cemetery and marks the completion of a series of photographs John has taken over the last ten years in collaboration with The Friends of Highgate Cemetery.
Theatrical promotions
Over the last couple of years, John has been commissioned for an increasing number of advertising and promotional shoots for a wide range of theatrical productions.
These include Calendar Girls, Oliver (with Rowan Atkinson), numerous and varied images for the Theatre By The Lake in Cumbria, and for the Theatre Royal Bath - Hedda Gabler (starring Rosamund Pyke), Private Lives (with Kim Cattrall and Matthew MacFadyen, both of which have now moved to the West End, and Blithe Spirit (starring Alison Steadman).
